It finally arrived today and as I opened the tube, unfurled the print, the only thing I can think of is how beautiful it is. Even though I know I couldn't feel the lead, inks, or correction liquid that Jim Lee and Tod Klein used, I had the urge to run my fingers along they lines they created. Beautifully well done.
I got a bit scared when the tube also mentioned a shirt, which I did not order. It was an unexpected wonderful gift from Neverwear for the delay in shipping. Thank you very much, greatly appreciated! Anansi Boys was my first Neil Gaiman novel. I had somehow overlooked this poem until the print came out, so it was a double pleasure - a new-to-me poem as well as beautiful art. As Doni says, there is lots to see, more details to spot each time you look at it.
(And, of course, all sent out with the usual lovely customer service you always get from Neverwear) The print arrived here today, after a little bit of holiday delays (which I am perfectly fine with). I am as happy with this as I am with the "The Day The Saucers Came" print. First of all, it arrived in excellent shape. Second, the drawings are so beautiful and detailed, and they fit amazingly with the words. Happy!
Some horse-trading ensued. You see, print no. 1 lost itself in the catacombs of the UK postal service. Some time later, I came cap in hand to Neverwear, and the sainted Kitty and I got down to some haggling. "The print got lost!", I said. "I'll send another", said Kitty. "...but if 2 turn up, then what?" I said. "Well, that's just one of those things" said Kitty. "I'll send more money!", I said. "Oh, pish" said Kitty - "just write a review"
So, duty bound. The print is gorgeous. In fact, the pictures do not do it justice. A wonderful, thoughtful piece of work by all, with pictures beautifully complimenting words. Oh, and fear not - the second print - that is being donated. Not to the UK postal service. this drawing is amazing the more you stare at it, the more details you see. i can not wait to have this framed and hanging up on my wall.
Tis a beautiful print on nice sturdy paper. I destroyed the mailing tube to be sure not to damage the print. I'm quite bummed I forgot to ask my friend at work to check my desk before meeting me at the signing Neil did here in Atlanta last night as I could have had him sign it.
